Details of all lectures given prior to 1962 are not currently available. The first presentation was to the UK Physiological Society in 1949, on the subject of respiratory control in congenital heart disease.  Several other presentations were made to the Physiological Society, the British Ergonomics Research Society, the Respirology Symposium in Nancy (France) in 1961, the Ergonomics Society Symposium on Inhaled Particles and Vapours, the Ergonomics Society Symposium on on the Respirator, the American Federation meetings in Chicago and Philadelphia, the University of Philadelphia, the Tripartite Commission at Edgewood Arsenal, MD,  and the RAF Institute of Environmental Medicine during the period 1949-1962.
